Atlanta Film Society and Kodak Film Lab ATL Present the 100 Feet of Film Project

Atlanta Film Society (ATLFS) and Kodak are in partnership to present the 100 Feet of Film Project. This project provides a team of filmmakers with the opportunity to maximize their creativity while minimizing the ability to reshoot. Through this project, filmmakers will learn to effectively and efficiently shoot on a limited reel of film stock and in the process must focus on the fundamentals of filmmaking.

HOW IT WORKS

Participating filmmakers will receive 100 feet of film stock and approximately 1-2 months to shoot. In January, one member from each team will have the opportunity to visit the Kodak film processing lab in Atlanta as they turn in their film stock to be processed. Raw footage will be delivered as a digital file in January and filmmakers will have approximately one month to edit their final film. In March, all participating films will screen at the Plaza Theatre. Two films will be chosen as winners following this screening. The winning films will screen at the 2019 Atlanta Film Festival.

RULES & TERMS

Please read the following carefully. Failure to comply with the following rules & terms will disqualify participation in the final screening showcase (and eligibility to win awards).

Each team is allotted 100 feet of Kodak film. Each group may choose between four different film stocks, Daylight (7203 or 7207) or Tungsten (7213 or 7219). Each team will receive one 100 foot roll of film.

As a note: the allotment of film you are given will likely NOT allow for reshoots or multiple takes. Please take this into consideration when planning your film and shoot. There will be NO guarantee of replacement film should your 100 feet allotment be damaged in any way.

Your final film must consist ONLY of film stock shot during the program. No additional footage (on film or otherwise) will be accepted. We will be comparing your film stock to the final film!

Film stock may be manipulated however you please (slowed down, sped up, repeated, etc.). However, film footage must be visible throughout the run time. For example, while you can create an animated sequence on top of your film footage, you cannot insert a solely animated sequence into the film.

Depending on the time of sign up, teams will have at minimum one month to shoot their film. Failure to turn in footage to Kodak by the due date will result in disqualification (and may prevent you from having your film processed).

Film stock will be processed and digitized by Kodak Film Lab Atlanta. (Film will be processed via normal process only, any push or pull process will be .06 cents per foot extra per stop). ATLFS will receive the digital files from Kodak and distribute the digitized footage to each team. Teams will have approximately one month to edit this footage.

Final film must be a minimum of 30 seconds long and a maximum of 5 minutes long. Title card and credits do not count towards the final run time, but the end credits cannot be longer than the actual film (trust us, no one wants to sit through that).

Final film must be submitted to ATLFS no later than February 25, 2019 in order for it to be included in the final showcase (and remain eligible for any awards). All eligible films will screen at the Plaza Theatre on March 4, 2019. Two prizes will be awarded following this screening, one Jury Award and one Audience Award. The prize winning films will screen during the 2019 Atlanta Film Festival, alongside one or more of our official selections.

There is no limit to the number of members that may be on each team. Teams do not need to be based in Georgia, but they are solely responsible for delivering their film to the Kodak Film Lab in Atlanta by the due date as well as any other local drop off and/or pickup duties. One member of each team must fill out the Eventbrite application. It is the full responsibility of this person (“Applicant”) to agree to all the rules and terms (on behalf of their team). It is also the sole responsibility of the Applicant to determine allocation of screening tickets, seat in the Kodak class, any prizes that may be won, etc.

The final film solely belongs to the filmmakers, neither ATLFS nor Kodak Film Lab Atlanta claims any sort of ownership over the finished product. By participating, you do authorize ATLFS and Kodak to use your film (either in part or in its entirety) for promotional purposes.
